What is the meaning of the winged rhino?

The winged rhino is the heraldic animal of Dortmund's concert house, the Westphalian Philharmonic. Together with City- Marketing Ltd, eighty sponsors put up 100 artistically designed rhino sculptures in the City of Dortmund in 2005/2006. Those powerful, winged animals (2,5 metres in length and 1,87 metres in height) quickly won the hearts of the Dortmund people, each rhino in its individual shape lending character to the city`s appearance.

Even protel has designed its own winged rhino. It's located in front of our office building - you can see a picture on the other side of this page. Europe is shown to the left, a world map to the right. Every country with a protel distributor is marked with a dot and connected to our Dortmund headquarters by a line. We are very proud of the global protel network of which the this rhino is a symbol.
